An Example

After ejaculation, Logan makes sure that semen does not get on or inside their partner’s body. Logan makes sex safer by turning away from their partner before removing the used condom.

In the first of three pictures, a person sits on a bed and puts a condom on their erect penis. Another person waits, smiling, in the bed behind them. The next picture shows the condom being taken off so the semen remains contained. Finally, the knotted condom is dropped in a trash can.

Sexual & Reproductive Health

  • Semen has sperm inside of it. If semen enters the vagina of a person who ovulates and menstruates, then it is possible that a pregnancy could be created.
To prevent the sperm in semen from meeting an egg in a person’s fallopian tube, an internal or external condom should be used.
Semen is a body fluid that can pass STIs and HIV from one person to another. When practicing safer sex, it is important to prevent semen from getting into another person’s body (including a person’s anus, mouth or vagina).
